Physical Therapy
Our personalized and individualized care results in a high quality experience that gets you back on your feet faster and feeling better sooner. We address the body as a whole and not just look at the body part that is in pain, but instead look for the “core” issue. All treatment sessions are scheduled with an experienced, licensed physical therapist in a one-on-one environment in private treatment rooms.
We use advanced techniques and treatment methods to ensure that your optimal outcome is achieved in the quickest possible time. Rather than following a “cookbook” approach, our therapists specialize in developing a customized and unique therapy plan for each person based on an in-depth evaluation. We use a combination of physical therapy techniques including manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, functional therapeutic exercise/activities, sports specific training, bio-mechanical analysis and education to help you reach your peak!
Techniques we use
Manual Therapy
We strongly believe in the benefits of manual therapy techniques as it has been shown to be more effective than exercise alone in treating certain orthopedic conditions. Research has shown that programs using manual therapy produce the best results. Our physical therapists have advanced training in manual physical therapy.
Within this approach, techniques employed are:
Joint Manipulation/Mobilizations of the Extremities and Spine
Myofascial Release/Soft Tissue Mobilization
Manually Resisted Exercise Techniques
Cross-Friction Massage
Muscle Energy Techniques
Manual Traction
Strain-Counterstrain
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
Dry Needling
Intramuscular Dry needling or Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) is a is a highly skilled treatment technique that utilizes thin, solid filament needles designed to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying neural, muscular and connective tissues. TDN evokes a healing response in painful neuromusculoskeletal conditions and improves movement impairments. Typically, myofascial trigger points are needled; which are painful “knots” in tight muscle tissue.
Therapeutic Exercise and Patient Education
To maximize the effects of the manual physical therapy, therapeutic exercise is essential. The goal of the exercise program is to reinforce the hands-on work done by your therapist. We strongly believe in empowering our patients by educating them on ways to facilitate healing, improve posture, perform efficient movement patterns and body mechanics, and how to progress their treatment plan. We include patient education during every treatment session. We emphasize the prescription of individualized exercise programs both in the clinic and at home. Our patients play an active role in their care.
Modalities
Used to relieve pain, improve circulation, decrease swelling, reduce muscle spasm, and deliver medication in conjunction with other procedures. Typical types of modalities include electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, heat and ice.
