Gait Analysis
A proper gait pattern is important to performance whether you are recreational walker or a high level athlete. At C.O.R.E Physical Therapy you can have your gait analyzed using slow motion video and expert clinical assessment. If your gait is found to be affecting your function or causing you pain, we can offer several ways to restore your gait pattern and eliminate your pain. Restoring your gait may require a re-learning of proper functional patterns in an unweighted or decreased gravity environment or a more long term solution is needed which requires custom orthotics. At C.O.R.E Physical Therapy we can do both.
Unweighted Ambulation
C.O.R.E.
Physical Therapy offers gravity assisted ambulation and running using
an unweighting apparatus over a treadmill that can incrementally reduce
the load a person is applying during walking and running. This is
similar to pool therapy but much more accurate and effective. This
reduced gravity environment is ideal for re-learning and restoring
normal patterns of movement.
Custom Orthotics
When
a long-term gait solution is needed C.O.R.E. Physical Therapy can
provide custom orthotics. A custom orthotic is designed by taking a
cast impression of your feet and having an orthotic lab fabricate them
according to your specific gait needs. The role of a functional
orthotic is to prevent pain during ambulation and running and to assist
in normalizing your gait pattern and controlling the motions of your
feet, knees, and hips.
